Your Business
The YTB companies offer two unique and powerful opportunities, that of referring travel agent or “RTA” and that of independent marketing representative or “REP”. The travel agent opportunity has an initial fee under $500 and a monthly license fee of $49.95. There is no fee or travel agency purchase required to be a REP. You may choose to participate in one or both opportunities.
What is a YTB Independent Marketing Representative?
A person who has signed an Independent Marketing Representative agreement with YourTravelBiz.com is called a Representative.
(We will use the term “Rep” from now on). Reps may sell online Travel Agencies, enroll RTAs, and sponsor other Reps. Reps earn commission on personal online Travel Agency sales. Reps do not receive travel credentials and cannot sell travel.
What is a YTB Travel Network Referring Travel Agent?
A Referring Travel Agent (RTA) is a person who has purchased an online Travel Agency in an agreement with YTB Travel Network of Illinois and pays the $49.95 monthly license fee for a personalized online travel website and its “Back Office”. (We will use the term “RTA” from now on). RTAs refer people to their website (online Travel Agency) to book travel and earn commissions on travel booked through their personalized site.

Current Operations
YTB International, Inc. provides Internet-based travel booking services for travel agencies and home-based independent representatives in the United States, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, the Bahamas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Canada. It operates through three subsidiaries: YourTravelBiz.com, Inc., YTB Travel Network, Inc., and REZconnect Technologies, Inc.
The three distinct, wholly-owned subsidiary divisions operate as follows:
YourTravelBiz.com, Inc. (and subsidiaries)
YourTravelBiz.com, Inc. (“YTB Marketing”) conducts business through recruitment, enrollment, training, and support of its sales force. There are currently approximately 341,305 (as of 3/31/08) independent contractors, known as Independent Marketing Representatives (each, an “IMR”), who are responsible for selling on-line travel agencies to RTAs, most of whom work from their homes. IMRs are compensated via a multilevel marketing commission structure. An IMR might utilize a number of methods for attracting new RTAs, including the use of informational meetings and events, newspaper advertising, and one-on-one meetings with individuals seeking a home-based business enterprise.
YTB Marketing was created to market travel agency websites to RTAs in a referral marketing program that incentivizes IMRs to sell on-line travel agencies. RTAs are also independent contractors and are provided with training materials and onsite training at various locations throughout the United States. YTB Marketing charges an initial license fee of $449.95 plus $49.95 per month, on a month-to-month basis, for RTAs to own and operate an online travel site, and YTB Travel (as defined below) can also earn additional transactional compensation from travel purchased off each website.
YTB Travel Network, Inc. (and its subsidiaries)
YTB Travel Network, Inc. (together with its subsidiary YTB Travel Network of Illinois, Inc., collectively, “YTB Travel”) business is comprised of arrangements to sell airline tickets, cruise packages and other services, plus travel sales, from the approximately 138,814 (as of 3/31/08) RTAs’ web sites which it hosts. YTB Travel handles travel processing, document distribution and travel commission payments, including tracking transactions for each of the sites. RTAs are schooled through travel training courses. This training is accomplished through a combination of company conference calls, e-training modules and hands-on certification seminars.
REZconnect Technologies, Inc.
REZconnect Technologies, Inc. (“Technologies”) includes a “brick and mortar” travel franchise system and provides YTB technology software and services to the travel industry. Technologies builds reservation systems using proprietary applications for suppliers within the travel industry. Technologies sells and services travel stores within the travel industry and includes RezCity.com, an online city guide and travel store. Technologies operates under the following brands: Travel Network, Global Travel Network and Travel Network/Vacation Central. The Technologies’ consumer driven websites provide strong content and booking ability, with over 60 booking engines incorporated into any one site, covering all aspects of the travel industry.

Our Featured Artist for 2008: Dorleen Gashweseoma
This year’s featured artist is Dorleen Gashweseoma Lalo (Hopi), a basket maker from Third Mesa, who was inspired by the masterful basket making of her mother and grandmother. Now she is a master weaver in her own right and a recipient of numerous awards, including most recently the Arizona Governor’s Arts Award. The first time she submitted work to the 72nd Annual Hopi Festival of Arts and Culture at the Museum of Northern Arizona, her baskets won five awards, including Best of Show award. Dorleen grew up in a very traditional Hopi family, and her “school” was working with her grandmother collecting materials and learning how to make baskets. She loved how her grandmother made baskets out of nature and the products of mother earth. Wherever Dorleen travels she always thinks of her grandmother as she looks at the native plants to determine what she could use from mother earth to make a basket.
Dorleen grew up in a very traditional Hopi family, and her “school” was working with her grandmother collecting materials and learning how to make baskets. She loved how her grandmother made baskets out of nature and the products of mother earth. Wherever Dorleen travels she always thinks of her grandmother as she looks at the native plants to determine what she could use from mother earth to make a basket.
As a child, Dorleen wanted to be like her grandmother and make beautiful baskets. As she continues to travel, win awards, and meet collectors who appreciate her art, Dorleen believes her dreams have now come true. Yucca Sifter Basket in a geometric pattern of colors representing the four directions, the seeds the Hopi plant (corn, squash, tobacco, etc) and the morning sun that will nurture the plants to maturity. This is the first basket with this pattern Dorleen has made. - ($450 value)

The Kerrville Music Festivals are family oriented events which are held each year on the Quiet Valley Ranch, just 9 miles south of the resort town of Kerrville in the heart of the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Our two annual festivals are the Kerrville Folk Festival and the Kerrville Wine & Music Festival. Founded by Rod Kennedy, the Kerrville Folk Festival has run annually since 1972. It is the longest continuously running music festival of its kind in North America. For 18 straight days and nights each May and June, over 30,000 guests come from all over the world to experience the magic of what we simply call Kerrville. The Festival is known internationally as a Mecca for singer songwriters of varying musical style. Its a place where those just developing their skills have the opportunity to play their music along- side master craftsmen. Over 1500 outstanding singer-songwriters have been presented on the Festivals stages since the beginning. More than just a folk music festival, Kerrville offers music of many styles including traditional folk, bluegrass, acoustic rock, blues, country, jazz, and Americana. The common thread is songwriting. The focus of the festivals is to promote emerging artists while giving our audience exposure to both new and recognized, seasoned talent. Major label artists such as Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, Michelle Shocked, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Robert Earl Keen, Lucinda Williams, and Nancy Griffith played Kerrville early in their careers. You can still see other nationally known artists like Peter Paul & Mary, Judy Collins, Janis Ian, and singer/songwriter/actor Ronny Cox play on our stages any given year. While many folks come out just to see the evening main stage shows, the heart and soul of the festival is in the campgrounds. This is where you can truly experience and appreciate the abundance of talent we are blessed to have in our midst each year. Impromptu jam sessions can pop up at any time around a campfire or anywhere there are people willing to listen. A 24-hour a day treat for musicians and music enthusiasts alike. In addition to the live music there are also special concerts and activities for children, songwriting schools, music business seminars, hill country bike rides, canoe trips on the Guadalupe River, Sunday Folk Song Services, and our annual New Folk Competition and concerts for emerging songwriters. There is something for everyone who enjoys music, camping, the outdoors, and making new friends. So whether you come out for a day, weekend or for the entire Festival, youll find that the music, the ambiance, and the spiritual optimism combine to make this Americas most beloved and respected songwriters gathering. The Kerrville Wine & Music Festival, or Little Folk as some call it, has a similar musical format to that of the Kerrville Folk Festival, but the focus is also on Texas Wines. Held each year over Labor Day weekend this annual 3-day event, combines camping, music, and the best wines Texas winemakers have to offer. In addition to afternoon and evening concerts, there are Saturday and Sunday wine seminars which pair food morsels with the vintners choice of wine. Come on out and enjoy the magic of one of the Kerrville Music Festivals. Youll be glad you did and you will want to come back every year.

Blankets on fligths:
If you choose to carry your own blanket on board the aircraft, there are a few things to consider.
- Ensure that the material has a flame retardant rating. In a fire emergency, synthetic fibers will melt onto your skin at high temperatures. It is a safety issue.
- Federal regulations require airline blankets to be specially treated and rated. A generic blanket from home may not meet these standards.
- Most airline blankets today are sealed in dry cleaners’ plastic. That is your assurance that they have not been recycled from another passenger.
- The trend today is for blankets to be sold for a couple of bucks, and are yours to keep.
It is better to bring your own small blanket on board than trust the cleanliness of the airlines’ blankets. Shorter flights seem to have eliminated blankets. Find good quality, small blankets at www.celiarachel.com. It’s great for kids, too.
Essentials for Carry-On
Traveling nowadays is a hassle, especially with all the new restrictions on liquids in carry-ons, so for toiletries in carry-on’s pack the following:
- A bar of soap (it works the same as body wash)
- Toothpaste (sample size)
- Petroleum jelly (travel or purse size)
- Hand sanitizer (travel)
- Small liquid make up (mascara, liquid eyeliner, etc.)
- Nasal spray and earache relief
- Travel Kleenex
- A small role of toilet paper that can be purchased at camping goods stores
- Toothbrush AND dental floss
- Travel mouthwash
- Travel first-aid kit
- Facial wipes (facial cleanser often leaks on the airplane)
- Antibacterial wipes such as Wet Ones
- All prescription and over the counter medication (including pain relief)
- Aloe vera gel
- Moisturizer (in travel size)
- Deodorant (travel size)
- 2-in-1 sample size shampoo and conditioner
- Brush, comb, hair elastics, etc.
- Make-up (small amounts)
All of these items, when bought in travel size, will often fit into a small carry-on toiletry bag. These items work not only when your luggage gets lost, but also during the flight.
Security: Going Light - Benefits of Traveling Light new
Security: Going light on your baggage greatly reduces the need to check baggage or entrust fellow travelers. There is much less risk of losing the baggage due to theft, damage, or misrouting.
Economy: You eliminate extra baggage charges if there are any by your airlines. You do not have to depend on taxis, limos, and private commute, but can easily take public transportation. If your baggage has wheels, you can even walk if the place to visit is pretty close-by. You don’t have to pay porters and the like to carry stuff around for you.
A Little Preparation
A combination of several common tips goes a long way toward preventing flying problems, or at least making them more tolerable. Use only one carry-on, make sure it’s a little smaller than the minimum size, take your own food and drink onto the plane, take at least one good book if not two, eat in the airport before the flight, and get to the airport a little early. A little preparation goes a long way.
Advance Attention to Safety
When boarding an aircraft, make a mental note of all exits, and count how many seat rows you pass from the exit to your row. This will expedite your escape route in case of an emergency landing if there is smoke and/or power loss in the cabin. And by all means, pay attention to the flight crew! No matter how boring or uninteresting it may sound, their instructions are vital … and read the aircraft emergency procedure manual completely before takeoff. These are located in the pouch right in front of you. Do this - it pays to be prepared for flight. Knowledge is power, and armed with the basics you can sit back and enjoy your flight.
Advance Seat Assignment
When buying airline tickets online, call the airline to get seat assignment immediately if no seat assignment is given. If you arrive at the ticket counter without seat assignment on an overbooked flight, you probably will get bumped off the flight and forced to take a later flight - which can be several hours or even a full day later. Due to overbooking, getting seat assignment in advance can reduce the risk of getting ‘bumped’!
Advice for Traveling Alone
Traveling alone can be an intimidating experience, especially for those who don’t do it often. Knowing what to expect and thinking about the challenges solo air travel throws at you ahead of time can make it an easy and efficient experience.
Avoid checking a bag. This is true of any air travel really, but it’s much easier to be a self-contained entity when alone, leaving as little responsibility to the airline as possible. There’s nobody to search for the right baggage claim with you or to help you talk to the agent if a bag gets lost. By keeping everything with you, there’s less chance of error.
Along those same lines, don’t be afraid to gate check a bag (usually signified by yellow tags put on the bag as you board). This works differently from normal bag checking, as any gate checked bag is only given to the airline as you board the plane, and is retrieved right as you exit the plane. The bag never actually goes through the whole luggage system - that invariably ends misplacing things.
Traveling alone seems to increase the chance of you being searched at security, particularly if one is not obviously on a business trip. Just assume you will be searched and pack accordingly.
The biggest advantage of traveling alone is usually the ability to get an exit row seat. If the airline you are flying with allows online check-in (usually available 24 hours before departing time) exit row seats can usually be obtained there. If not, make sure to ask at the gate, as most of the time there will be the odd one exit row seat that nobody has taken because they want to sit with their traveling companions. They get company, you get leg room. Sometimes a book and being able to stretch is better than someone to talk to.
Air Quality
The air that you breathe inside an airline cabin isn’t nearly as good as what you will find most other places. The cabin is pressurized, since the air is so thin at altitude. However, they don’t pressurize it to sea level; it is substantially weaker. (This is part of why air travel can be so draining; you can end up with mild altitude sickness!)
Furthermore, the air is very very dry. This can lead to dehydration, which can also make you feel lousy. I strongly advise bringing a litre or two of water with you, and guzzling that non-stop throughout the trip.
Another exhaust product is germs. Because airplane tickets are so expensive, and because such effort is involved in making such a trip, people will fly sick. If your immune system is compromised in any way (HIV, chemotherapy, immunoglobulin deficiency), you may well want to wrap your face in a scarf or wear a surgical mask.
Air Sickness
If you get motion sick easily, you may be more comfortable if you take some sort of motion sickness drug before you fly. Note that you must take the drugs before you get sick; there is unfortunately nothing known that will relieve motion sickness once it has started. Dramamine, a readily-obtained over-the-counter medication is well used. Unlike Bonine, another over-the-counter drug, it tends to make one drowsy, that can be a benefit on a long plane ride! Another motion sickness treatment (usually used for boating) is Scopolamine patches. These patches go behind the ear, and usually have no noticeable side effects. In the USA, a prescription may be required. Furthermore, there can be unpleasant side effects, such as dry mouth, blurry vision, and possible loss of memory.
Motion sickness is caused in part by a discrepancy between what the eye sees and what the inner ear feels. (This is why the driver of a car gets sick much less frequently than a passenger: the driver is continuously watching the road, getting a good idea of what is coming next.) It may help to close your eyes the moment you start to consider thinking about getting airsick.
If you do come down with discomfort, one relatively easy but embarrassing way to feel better is to empty your stomach. ‘Barf bags’ are usually located in the pouch on the back of the seat in front of you. Frequently, using them reduces and/or eliminates the discomfort.
